There are a few times in the year when I desperately feel French* and today is one of them: the 14th of July!  
A few traditions apply to recreate the mood: watching the parade on the Champs Élysées on youtube (in pieces of 2 or 3 mn each, as opposed to the whole thing on tv) and cooking appropriately French dishes for lunch and dinner. If you could only see me, you would say I have taken it too far because I am also wearing blue, white and red - that I swear I didn't do on purpose.
There is only one thing I couldn't do anything about: the cold 7ºC morning Melbourne had to offer.

*The rest of the year, I happily feel French.

Plusieurs fois dans l'année, je me sens désespérément française* et c'est le cas aujourd'hui car nous sommes le 14 Juillet!
Quelques traditions sont incontournables pour se mettre dans l'ambiance: regarder le Défilé des Champs Élysées sur youtube (par petits bouts de 2 ou 3 mn chacuns, au lieu d'un trait à la télé) et cuisiner des petits plats bien français à midi et ce soir.  Si vous me voyiez, vous diriez que j'en fais trop car je suis aussi habillée en bleu, blanc et rouge - je vous jure que ça, je ne l'ai pas fait exprès.
Une chose contre laquelle je ne peux rien par contre: le matin frisquet de 7ºC que Melbourne nous a offert.

*Le reste de l'année, je me sens joyeusement française.
